MAITHREE is a movement of the parents and by the parents of children with special needs endeavouring to provide a secure future to Children/Persons with special needs. Congregation of few Parents of children with special needs almost three decades ago blossomed into an organization for the welfare of Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDD), committed to provide an array of services encompassing the entire life span, with a vision to integrate them into the main stream thereby bringing dignity to their lives.

Having made humble beginnings in 1994 by providing education to 3 children with special needs, Maithree has impacted the lives of more than 3000 families through its dedicated services for education, vocational training for skill development and residential care. Apart from primary level education for activities of daily living and secondary level for functional learning, different vocations are propagated through assisted employment and residential care in conjunction with parental counseling for awareness and acceptance. Currently, Maithree reaches out to 500 beneficiaries through its eighteen satellite Centres.

Maithree has progressed due to the kind hearts and generosity of individual donors, corporates and institutions. No less is the contribution of different qualified and experienced professionals and caregivers providing their expertise in educating and training these individuals to be less dependent.
