The pressures of the changing lifestyles and a system that
measures success purely on financial performance has built
tremendous amounts of stress on our society, leaving us with
little time for the community we live in. The quest for success
has become the reason-de-etre of our existence. Time is at
a premium and much as one would wish, we do not have the time
to appreciate the problems of fellow human beings. Even a
cursory look around by the discerning citizens will reveal
how insensitive our society has been to the Special Persons.
Their requirements are basic but this marginalized section
is fighting a lonely battle for survival. All that they ask
for is a little understanding and some help in their efforts
to join the mainstream. |

Maithree is an organization formed by the parents, to take care of the needs of the special children with a vision to integrate the persons with mental handicap into the mainstream in order to bring dignity in their lives. Uniqueness of Maithree is that it develops parents as professionals and administrators in this field, advisors and counselors for the needy, service providers and also beneficiaries. |
